A few months ago, I was looking for something, in terms of stretching my body. I visit the gym 3 times a week and I am pretty fit but as my age progresses, I also started noticing aches and pains in my back recurring again. My body was telling me to slow down, do stretches and one that benefits the body. So by divine timing (or some may call it accident) I stumbled upon a Yin Yoga Certification training program run by Ms. Jade Wood. I met Jade last year at the Malaysian Urban Retreat Festival (MURFEST) and have been her Facebook friend. I was always interested in taking yin training but I guess timing was never right and perhaps it was the wrong teacher for me to take with. So when Jade published her training, something clicked in me. It felt right for her to be my teacher for the week in Bali.
Yin yoga is about respecting yourself and knowing when to stop. Knowing your boundaries and giving yourself permission to say enough. It is not about pushing over the boundaries like many yoga practices I know. It is about allowing yourself to know one’s limits. It has also taught me to be kind to myself. That is what I took away from the training. Yes Jade was the right person to show me that. She is such an amazing person. She is an inspiration, her warmth, care and the way she teaches allows each of us in the class to learn our truths and ourselves. Of course being in such a beautiful resort, Being Saatvaa in ubud helped as well.
During one of our lunch break, a friend and I went to the sacred wells which is 5 minutes away from the resort to bath in the well. It was an interesting experience and well worth it. I managed to squeeze in some shopping as well. One day I will go back to Ubud again and really begin to explore this beautiful country.
